“May the FOURTH be with you!”

May the 4th be with you!!! I remember this slogan 32 years ago – when Arsenal beat Parma 1-0, a goal from Alan Smith in Copenhagen in the 1994 Cup winners Cup!! Who remembers that?? Then a year later they lost it to a goal from an ex-Spurs player called Nayim – who lobbed David Seaman from the halfway line – who remembers that??? You see – one thing is for certain – Arsenal may or may not win something but by August it starts again and you end up losing or winning again!! How exciting is that?? Winning something and being successful are moments and they say are written in history books! Football, success, health are temporary – but they are ‘gifts’ to be thankful for and to be enjoyed. But there is something that far outweighs all these ‘fleeting’ pleasures and our chasing for self and purpose. It is the love of God, to be a beacon of light in an ever-darkening world to love others and give and share hope. Whilst many will be crying in celebration or disappointment over a football team these days, may we pause and think that perhaps our effort, emotion and sacrifice be better poured out to someone who really needs ‘good news of hope.’ That’s what God did by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for a world, who was lost and looking for a purpose. Now that news – IS recorded in the history Books forever! Have a blessed May 4th – and may the (4th) Spirit of God be with you! 🙏🙏💥⚽🏆Love to all. ❤️
