“Free in Jesus’ name”

In the book of Luke chapter 4 verse 17, we see Jesus being given the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He reads the following and the scroll of Isaiah (Chapter 61) says:-“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,” After reading this, The Lord sat down, and continued by saying, in Luke 4, verse 21:-And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” The day of setting the captives free is here! Jesus said it and it applies until that time when Christ comes for His Church – it is therefore applicable for now!

The Lord has shown us that He has the authority over everything and that the enemy is no match for what Christ wants to do through His Church. In Matthew 16 verse 18, Jesus responds to Peter by saying:- “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Though there is an enemy and he will attack the church, it will not prevail and Jesus WILL have His Church!

In going to set others ‘free’ from the bondage of satan and his agents, we too in the church need to be set free from our own chains! The chains of religion, apathy, doubts of what God can really do, chains of false teaching that have blinded some and of course bondages of addictions and demonic holds preventing people to be truly set free!

Jesus says in John 8 verses 31 and 32:- Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” and reiterates in John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” Amen!
