The Glory of The Trinity

How does one write words to describe The Trinity? What words are adequate enough to describe the glorious, majestic, powerful and awesome Trinity? Some sports commentators in describing successful teams have often said, “there are no more superlatives to describe this team” – and that has to be true of the Godhead – the Three in One – The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit!

It is surely a most awesome task of a Christian to study the Godhead, in comprehending the work of all three members of the Godhead but yet as ‘One’ in unity. It does any Christian much joy and much good to know the aspects and union of the Trinity – because as the Church we will be united with Christ. We break into the Trinity but not to form a ‘quartet’ – but become one with Christ as a man and woman become one flesh in a marriage.

The Trinity was active in the creation of the world. The Trinity was active in conception of Christ as a child and all present at the Baptism by John the Baptist at the River Jordan. Matthew 3 verse 16 and 17 says:-16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Indeed. The Father is so well pleased with the Son that He knew before the creation of the earth.

The Holy Spirit present with Jesus throughout His earthly life with constant communion by prayer with the Father. All the way through to the Trinity working in the death and in Resurrection power! The same Trinity is involved in OUR SALVATION!

Jesus reminds us to pray “Our Father in heaven” – pointing people to the Lord and Saviour Jesus by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit!

What a magnificent three! And what an honour and privilege to also be asked to be partakers in what the Trinity is doing on earth in the days that remain! What a ‘glorious’, ‘powerful’ and loving Father, that HE gave HIS only SON because of His love for you. “We accept you Father and thank you for empowering us with the Holy Spirit – to guide us and lead us, to strengthen and comfort us in the days on earth until we are joined with Christ as one. To be seated in heavenly realms and become heirs with Christ.” Simply…beautiful.
