The Lord Jesus shows us the way to pray in Matthew 6. But, have we considered really what we are praying, specifically the line in verse 10:- “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”(KJV)
Jesus expects His Church to pray with all their heart – “YOUR Kingdom COME!” Why? Why would you desire another Kingdom to come? What’s wrong with the one where you are living? Well, the one we are living in is under the influence of the devil as John writes in his letter 1 John 5 verse19:- “And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.”(KJV) For nearly 2000 years, Christians have prayed this with ALL their heart as they understood what it is to live in hostility and persecution! Millions! And today, the fastest growing churches in the world are where persecution is at the highest, because where they are located is where life conditions are suppressed. Usually these are countries run under the iron fist of dictatorships where strict controls exist over everyday lives. But here and in the west where there is freedom we don’t have the same intensity to pray in “your kingdom come” as life is ok!
But there is a time coming soon, so very soon where there will be a shaking to the countries and land living with a false sense of security, to awaken them out of their slumber and the Church in these countries must be ready! Will you be? Because where there is no real persecution to the church in such countries such as the States and Britain, we have been fed a diet of ‘preaching and teaching’ of prosperity and health’ which is not the gospel at all! The Apostle Paul mentions this in his letter to 2 Timothy where he says the days are coming when you will surround yourself with teachers to tickle your ears, teachings to please you and to go alongside your comfortable lifestyles! It is only broken people who have a true revelation of Christ and His love that truly understand what the true message is.
Christ is coming and still people are not awaking to the fact, though the daily news continues to show the increase of antisemitism and the anti-Christ spirit gathering.
It is time to preach with the power of the Holy Spirit, demonstrating the Power of Jesus over the dominion of darkness that lies over us this very moment. Things are growing darker, but where there is darkness, let the Church bring the ‘light’ of Christ! However, we still desire to see the day of justice and righteousness reign This is why we cry:- “THY KINGDOM COME – THY WILL BE DONE!” Come Lord Jesus, COME!”
