Living in the days of Noah

When Jesus was pressed about the signs of the end times to come, He responded by saying in Matthew 24 verse 37:-“For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

In the days prior to the flood, the Bible says in Genesis 6, verses 5 and 6:- “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. However, the Lord saw a man who was righteous and that through this man, God would save his family. This man of course was Noah, which means to bring ‘comfort and rest.’

In these days, Noah was obedient to God’s instruction to build a very large boat – the Ark! In the face of opposition and criticism, Noah was faithful. He remained a man of ‘faith’ who’s fear of God led Him to build the Ark and save his family!

It says in Genesis 6 verse 9, :-“Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God.” Noah WALKED with God and he and his family were taken to safety before judgement came upon the earth! Also, his great grandfather Enoch, the ‘7th’ from Adam, was also taken to safety by God! Why? It says in Genesis 5: 24:- “Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.” Another sign and pattern that Jesus will ‘take and remove’ His beloved Church before the final 7-year tribulation and wrath of God. Jesus promised this to His church in Revelation 3, verse 10. “Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.” To try those who dwell on the earth!!! As followers of Jesus, we no longer ‘dwell’ on earth, our eyes by ‘faith’ should be looking to a city where God is the architect and builder! (Hebrews 11:10)

How are we to live today? The days are the same as in the days of Noah, therefore we need to live as Noah and Enoch! We need to walk in fellowship with Jesus and be obedient to His Holy Spirit and Word. Let us choose ‘life’ – let us accept Jesus as our Saviour and ask Him for His Holy Spirit to dwell in us, to keep close to Him in the days remaining.
“Thank you, Father, for sending your Son to die for us so in accepting Him, we can be saved. Help us to walk in close union with Him daily. Place us in a Church where we can grow close with you, be obedient to you and have the same ‘faith’ as Noah. Keep us strong in the midst of opposition and darkness. May we radiate the ‘light’ of Christ, the hope of the world whilst there is still time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
