Just prior to Jesus ascending into heaven 40 days after the resurrection and 10 days before the day of Pentecost, the disciples asked Jesus: – “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. (Acts 1:6-7) Jesus followed this up by saying what their task would be in verse 8: – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Their work and task was now established. Jesus had His ‘team’ ready to commence the ‘Church age’.
For these 120 or so disciples, this was the purpose for their lives. They were born for that time alone, and Jesus entrusted that important work for that ‘time and season’ of the church to that group! We find ourselves coming to the end of 2000 years of Church history, and this is now our time! The time and season for the Church age will come to a close and the important question is ‘will the true church of Jesus Christ be ready and doing all that is asked of it when He arrives like a thief in the night?
We need to know the current ‘time and season’ we live in. We see world events lining up as laid out in the Word of God. It is a time for truth to be preached. It is a time to warn everyone about the increasing deception especially in the church.
The ‘deception’ gets worse and worse. Jesus including His disciples all warn of false prophets and false teachers in ever increasing measure in the final days. It is so important to receive sound biblical teaching and to be part of a church that is preaching the truth and not shying away from speaking what the Word of God says, especially in ‘fear’ of what others may think. We need to be sold out for Jesus, as were the 120 on the Day of Pentecost. Knowing the truth, preaching Christ crucified and that He is coming again after 2 days! The Bible is clear that the period of washing garments and being cleansed before going up to meet God is 2 days! (Exodus 19:10-11 and Luke 13:32) The completion of the 7 phases of Church History over 2000 years is upon us! Now is the time and season not to be led astray by false teachers and prophets. It is time to pray and fast, seek the face of God and be a Body of Christ, His beloved worshipping and being strong.
As nations continue to flex their muscle and to work against the plans of God for His people Israel and His Church, the ‘time and season’ when Jesus returns to Jerusalem and installed King on the Mount of Zion is fast approaching. Psalm 2 verse 4 to 6 says it brilliantly as a response to the plans of Satan and man: – “He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” God is a God of His Word, and He is watching over His Word to perform it! (Jeremiah 1:12)
Do you know the current ‘time and season?’ Pray. “Lord, I want to be close to you. Strengthen me and guide me. I do not want to be deceived by any false teachers or prophets. Holy Spirit, show me and convict me for truth. Jesus, you are truth. That is one thing we are certain of! Amen.”
