Calling the Last Disciples!

In the book of Matthew chapter 28 verse 18-19, Jesus says: – “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Make Disciples!

Coming to the ‘close’ of the age of the Church, this command that has stood for 2 millennia, takes on a depth that is so profound and sobering. We are close.

The responsibility of growing Disciples for a Church in these end days, where so much is at stake can weigh heavily. But in prayer and fasting, and in consecration of our lives for the Master, The Holy Spirit will strengthen and guide us in this most glorious of works and also one of great reward.

Jesus has placed in each of His Living Stones, ‘talents’ that are to be used for His purpose and the growing of His body – His Church, His Bride! We are to be led by The Holy Spirit in this most precious mission of Christ’s Church.

In the parable of ‘The talents’ in Matthew 25:14-30, we see the differing amounts of talents apportioned to individuals. In the parable, The Master then returns from his journey to seek a ‘return’ for the ‘talents’ that He had given out. We well know, that 2 of the 3 persons went to work with the ‘talents’ they had been given and produced the same again! However, we know of one that did not. What he was given to work with, he buried and returned the talent without any increase – no additional fruit.

We need to be working together as a team. A church in unity worshipping and using what Jesus has placed within us all to become ‘Strong Disciples’ bearing MUCH fruit in this crucial hour. And as we read in Matthew 25, verses 21 and 23, we can then expect to hear these most wonderful words from our Saviour:- “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (KJV)

When Jesus returns to reign and put right the earth for a 1000 years, those who have been faithful will reign and rule with HIM!

It is worthy to note, that it is with ‘great JOY’ that Jesus receives us! Of course, what bridegroom is not joyous when a faithful bride produces fruit for the glory of the bridegroom? “Oh precious Jesus, as we continue to seek you as a Church, guide us, lead us to where we are to go to bear fruit with the ‘talents’ you have bestowed upon us. For the glory and honour of your name alone. Amen”
