A New Heart

In the book of Ezekiel chapter 36 verses 25 to 27, we see God making a promise to the people of Israel. He says “25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

The Lord wants full access to our hearts. Before we know Christ, we come to Him with our old self, our hurts, our idols, our baggage and other things that are in our hearts and then we accept Christ to take up resident in there too! He does not want a small area – He wants you to surrender the complete area!! As it says in the above passage, ‘God wants to sprinkle clean water’ and cleanse you completely and then fill you with His Spirit to live in you! Jesus cleansed us from all our sins by dying on the cross, and said that the Holy Spirit, which is just like Him, will come and live in the inside of you.

The Holy Spirit leads us to walk in His path, if you allow Him to! Taking time to hear from God is so important and is a must! “What are you saying Lord today?” is a must prayer! Romans 8 verse 14 says:- “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” We do not lead the Spirit, He leads us! And sometimes that can be to uncomfortable moments but we follow Him because we love Him!

Jesus speaking to the Church of Laodicea in Revelation 3 verse 20 says:-“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me” Are you letting him in to your heart? Allowing Jesus full access through the door to your heart means you will be led by Him to the life that He has called you too. When it says that “He will eat with you”, it means intimacy and sharing! You are walking and sharing together.

The world is and continues to grow very unsettled and we need to know the Lord’s will for our lives to understand the wider picture. The peace of the Lord in our hearts and knowing the future with Him enables the light of Christ to shine through us to the world around us! Let Jesus in your heart – open the door! He wants to give you a New Heart.
