Are we ‘walking with God?’ Are we in close communion with God? From the beginning of the Bible, we see this distinct truth played out in the garden. In Genesis 3, verse 8 we read: –And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Adam and Eve were now hiding behind the trees and now not ‘walking’ with God. A separation had now occurred and came between their communion with God. Note, that God was ‘walking’ but man was now hidden!
These are startling truths for the Church today! There are many who profess faith in Christ and say ‘we attend Church’ – we are Christians and know Jesus’ – but Jesus knows who are truly walking with Him. Check yourselves now: – are you? It is obvious today that the warnings that Jesus gave to the Churches in the Book of Revelation are here now. To the Church in Laodicea Jesus says in Revelation 3 verse 17:- Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— ” The Church had no idea what it truly is to walk with God. This Church had their door closed to Jesus and they did not know it.
In these days, the deception is real and subtle. There are many variations from the ‘original’ attributes of what being the Church of Christ is really about! Like a popular soft drink, there are many variations from its original to ‘light’, ‘zero’ or many different ‘flavour’s’ being added today! Do not be misled. Following Christ is very distinctive. Being a follower of Jesus is knowing Him personally, day by day walking with Him.
Know the difference. Know your Saviour, with ALL your heart, ALL your soul, ALL of your mind AND strength!
