It’s time to Preach the Truth!

On the Day of Pentecost and after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the 120 or so believer’s, the Apostle Peter was the one who stood up to explain what was happening! This moment was a most important time for the Church of Jesus. This ‘sermon’ was going to get the Church moving and into the direction that Jesus desired! It fell upon Peter to get the message across. We see him start in Acts chapter 2 from verse 14: – “ But Peter, standing with the eleven, (the Apostles) lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15 For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:” and Peter continues to quote from the Old Testament Prophet Joel of this significant event.

The content of this message was crucial. It was to stand the test of time, and this is the continuing unchanging message of the Good News! Peter demonstrated by quoting from the prophets of the Old Testament, all about Jesus being rejected and crucified, being raised from the grave and now sitting at the right hand of God. Peter continued on with great fervour and passion and also mentions that Great Day when the wrath of God is poured out on earth! Now, we know that the period of the Church is 2000 years, but the urgency of the preach and the ‘call to be saved’ was as if Christ was returning imminently. This same message applies to ALL generations! Peter said in verse 40 of chapter 2:- “And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” Nothing has changed. What has happened to the Gospel message over these 2000 years? No mention of ‘living a healthy and wealthy life’, no mention of worshipping different people like there has been and still are today and no mention of God accepting you just the way you are with your sinful lifestyle. NO! Repent and be saved from this crooked generation.

We are now at the last generation. It is time to stand up and preach the ‘uncompromising gospel’ as Peter preached!
