What does it actually mean to be “made alive in Christ?”
When we were born, we inherited the ‘seed’ of Adam, the seed that is sin and leads to death! But when we accept Christ, we receive a life-giving seed that leads to eternal life in Christ. Once we were dead in our sins, but now we have been made alive in Christ! In 1 Peter 1 verse 23, Peter says “since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;”
The Holy Spirit within us is to lead and guide us, to comfort us and help us. We need to learn to yield to the Holy Spirit to truly know His will and direction for our lives. We soon learn that there is a contest – a wrestling match! -between what we want to do and what we should do! The Apostle Paul writes a plenty on this subject in his letters, and in Ephesians 2 he says:- “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
We once walked following the course of the world. We followed our own nature and desires. This leads to death. But God has a plan for our lives that leads to eternal life. He has prepared this beforehand and by His grace we receive this free gift of salvation The Apostle Paul concludes in verse 10 in Ephesians 2:- “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.“
“Lord, may we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit each and every moment, to walk in your ways. In you, we have been made alive!” Amen.
