“What am I thinking?!”

One of the battle grounds as Christians is in our mind and the thoughts that enter.

There are definitely times when thoughts appear unannounced and unexpectedly! We can allow these thoughts to take root, and we then start to play out scenarios of those thoughts and giving them a stage. Some of these thoughts can be previous times in our lives that we thought were deleted from our memory especially when we now surrender to Jesus and are called to live a new life with Him! And then some of the thoughts can be news or events that come into our world, and we allow them to have an influence in our thinking and determine our mood and outward behaviour!

We have to recognise that the mind is a key battleground. There are times to ‘fight’ the thoughts that come in and lean on Jesus with everything you have to push against the lies that the enemy may plant in your mind. The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 5 “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” We take hold of the thought and/or scenario and pray, “I take this to you Jesus, this is not of you, I give it to you!” We may have to do this many times to ‘overcome’ some thoughts that can appear to be regular in coming against you. In James chapter 4 verse 7, it says “So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.” Therefore, continuing to take it to God in prayer and the devil will get the message – you belong to Jesus and no lie from the enemy will stand!
