In our walk with Jesus, there are times when we feel we are in the midst of storms! These moments in our lives can appear to make Jesus and hearing from him so hard if not at all! But we see in the story of the ‘windstorm’ on the lake of Galilee, that Jesus was asleep in the boat during the storm! The storm was threatening the boat, the disciples got scared and they then finally called on a sleeping Jesus – “Help – we are perishing!”
Jesus awoke, rebuked the disciples and quietened the storm. Why did he allow the disciples to sail in the storm? He knew it was going to happen.
There are clearly times in our lives that we feel overwhelmed by certain situations. There are times when the storms appear so dark that there is no way out and all we can hear is the enemy taunting and condemning us. We can then, just like the disciples call out desperately to Jesus for help! WE NEED HIM!
We always need Him! It reminds us of who is with us and how much he loves us!
During such storms and testing times we are being pruned and readied for a greater harvest of fruit!
Jesus says in John 15 verses 4 to 5, “ Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“
It is always about Jesus!
