Chiselled by the Hand of God.

The Apostle Peter says in his letter, 1 Peter 2:4-5, “As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house“. A piece of stone goes through a hard process of cutting and chiselling before the final piece is revealed.

In any large stone window or building, there are so many different stones with different patterns and shapes. That is how the Church and body of Christ is – so many stones with our own unique template! God has a unique template for us – that is so beautiful! We are all unique but like a single piece of stone, when it is joined with the other stones of the window it forms a beautiful overall picture! That is how Christ see’s His Church!!

During the process, the stonemason uses his mallet and chisel to ‘bash’ and shape the stone – and with that comes dust and mess! We need to be in the master ‘mason’s’ hands to allow Him to do a work on us and shape us to the template He has uniquely for us! There are times for shaping and times of enjoying your new shape! But as we get closer to the end, we start to see the beautiful new stone that Christ is designing for His Temple! In Revelation 3:12, Jesus says to the Church of Philadelphia, “The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.” We will be a new stone, with the name of the Father, The Son and the New Jerusalem carved into us! Wow – what a promise!!!

Be strong, allow the Father to chisel you into a beautiful new stone!!
