To whom or what do you look to when you are feeling weak and powerless? When all feels hopeless and there is little else left in your energy reserves? In Isaiah 40, verses 29 to 30 says, – “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”
In looking to the LORD, it is Him alone that can truly renew our strength and hope. When coming to the place of prayer and reading the Bible, it is this place that can ‘kindle’ the dwindling fire in us and make us feel alive and full of zeal once again. When we have lost hope and sense of our own abilities, Jesus gives us through His Holy Spirit, true living water to refresh and revive us. Praise His Holy name! Continuing in verse 31 of Isaiah above it says, –“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
After 40 years, an eagle goes through a 5-month process of renewal. After a painful process of ‘knocking of its overgrown beak, cutting its overgrown claws and then removing heavy old feathers it is renewed to fly high for another 30 years! As Christians in Christ, we too are to go through seasons of ‘pruning, sometimes painful and uncomfortable. But it is for good as we can just like an eagle, ‘fly high’ for Christ and continue to serve Him. It is God’s strength in us that enables us to do great exploits for the Glory of Jesus’ name!
