In the book of Deuteronomy chapter 6 verses 4 and 5, God lays out some very clear instruction for His people. “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and with all your soul and with all your strength.
It is not uncommon, but we really do forget this clear mandate! We sometimes rush off to do things for God and be busy and show our worth by the number of things we are doing or achieving! But the simplicity of loving Jesus our Saviour is the purpose! It is from this place of intimacy and our desire for Jesus that our works should flow from!
It is more important than ever that we pass onto our children the knowledge of God and whom is Jesus! We must be willing to talk about Jesus especially to our children and bring them up in the training and knowledge of God.
Continuing from the verse in Deuteronomy chapter 6 verse 7, God continues to say, “You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up.” When we love God with all our heart and talk about His faithfulness, we cannot but share about Him to our children and their children!
We are in crucial times where the knowledge of God and Jesus are unfortunately rare and oh how we need a generation to continue to be a light for Jesus.
“Lord, may we return to you, our first love. May we impart onto our children the goodness of God and the truth of your word in our homes. Lord, listen to our heart’s cry to reach our nation.”
