The Proposal

In the book of John, chapter 3(v29-30), John the Baptist declares, “The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore, this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.” Jesus? The “bridegroom?” Yes indeed, throughout His ministry, Jesus shows that he is acquiring a Church – a Bride to be with Him always! In scripture, we see Jesus showing all the clues and steps taken in winning HIs bride! In John 14 (v1-3) Jesus says, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” Jesus is preparing a place for His Church – His bride! Wow! Jesus really is coming to take us to be with Him forever – what love and what hope!! But how did it all start? How did such a proposal of such a promise begin?

The Lord Jesus went to extravagant lengths to demonstrate His love for the world! In the process of winning His bride, Jesus endured scorn, shame and took the punishment for us! He was in such horrific pain following torture from the Romans and continued to suffer to a painful death by crucifixion. Jesus is coming back for those who receive and accept this ‘proposal’ – to believe that Jesus died for you and you are now set apart for Him! Have you accepted this proposal from Jesus? If so, you can be assured, that if you follow Him all the days of your life, He is coming back to take you with Him, to a place He is preparing for you! Oh, what a promise – thank you Lord Jesus!!!!
