Continuing our story of the Naboth’s vineyard in 1 Kings 21, we see that after the refusal to give up his vineyard, Naboth is subject to a devious scheme from Queen Jezebel to get it. Jezebel employs tactics to bring upon the destruction of Naboth and ultimately acquire the vineyard so King Ahab can grow his vegetables!! She uses the guise of the established authority of the land to bring lies and false accusations against Naboth. She also uses ‘spiritual language like, ‘fasting and prayer’ to fool the people and also knowing the word of God she brings the two false witnesses. In Christ you will face opposition to compromise your faith in Him. Upon standing on the ‘Word’ of God the enemy is always devising schemes to get you. The apostle Paul says in Ephesians 6 :11 – “Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Let us be in Christ, strong in Him and whatever comes against us we will rejoice and partake with Christ in every way, even rejoicing in our suffering and persecutions. They may harm our body, but we know the Lord has redeemed us to eternal life……just like Naboth.
